Flights to Brazil for Carnival are best booked well in advance. The main cities for Carnival in Brazil are Rio de Janeiro and Salvador, but you can fly to other cities in Brazil to celebrate Carnival as well.

If your final destination for Carnival is Salvador, hop on a short flight to Salvador with a Brazilian low cost airline. Salvador airport (airport code: SSA) is served by low cost airlines in Brazil such as TAM, GOL, and Varig airlines.

GOL airlines is a low cost carrier like Southwest and Ryanair for domestic flights in Brazil. GOL offers roundtrip flights from Sao Paulo to Salvador for Carnaval for around US$150. The same goes for the Rio de Janeiro airports.

If you’re ambitious and trying to save money in Brazil, the best Brazil flight deals are on the low cost airlines in Brazil.

Besides GOL, which lets you book in English, there is also BRA and Webjet.

These latter two low cost airlines in Brazil have websites in Portuguese only.

However, you can at least get prices and then book flights through a Brazil travel agent that speaks English.

BRA airline flies to many places in Brazil, including Salvador (SSA) and Porto Seguro.

Webjet flies far fewer places but is good for Brazil Carnival flights from Rio to Salvador (GIG-SSA).

There is also a surprisingly good business class service for people flying TAM for their international or domestic Brazil flights.
